HVM Seat
The AUTOPA ‘HVM S2 SEAT’ is manufactured from Mild Steel and Wood, the steel frame has been galvanised to protect the steel from corrosion.
It has been designed to be installed where pedestrians and vehicles could share the same area and has the ability to be removed if necessary to allow access.
It has been designed and tested to withstand vehicle impact and has achieved the following product rating:
IWA 14-1:2013 Barrier V/1500[M1]/48/90:0.9
The seat frame is galvanised as standard, colour coating is available as an optional extra (additional cost) and must be specified at the time of order.
What is IWA14-1:2013?
IWA14-1 is an International Workshop Agreement which specifies the essential impact performance requirement for a vehicle security barrier (VSB) and a test method for rating its performance when subjected to a single impact by a test vehicle.
How to decode the IWA14-1 product rating given:
Example: IWA14-1:2013 Barrier V/1500[M1]/48/90:0.0
Breakdown:
1 - IWA14-1:2013
2 - Barrier
3 - V
4 - 1500
5 - M1
6 - 48
7 - 90
8 - 0.0
1. The standard to which the product was tested
2. Type of VSB
3. Test Type, ‘V’ denotes a vehicle impact (IWA141-1 only allows for type ‘V’ tests)
4. Vehicle Mass in Kg
5. Vehicle Classification M1=Car
6. Impact Speed in Km/h
7. Impact Angle
8. Vehicle Penetration Distance in Metres
In the above example, the product rating shows that a Barrier type VSB was impacted by a
Vehicle (V) of an M1 Class (Car) with a mass of 1500Kg. The vehicle was travelling at
48Km/h and impacted the Barrier at an angle of 90 degrees and penetrated 0.0m past the
VSB datum point after impact.
