Opened in April 2012 Lansdowne Primary Academy is a large primary academy serving the community of Tilbury, Essex. As well as the traditional year groups, the school also houses a large nursery of 104 children.
The main issue being faced by Nursery staff, was providing a safe outside area for the nursery pupils to play and learn while being protected from the extremes of British weather. Creating this area was crucial to the nursery as learning through play is fundamental to a child’s development.
Enter AUTOPA. After a detailed site survey from one of our experienced engineers it was deemed that a bespoke version of our Harlequin Walkway was the perfect solution. The Harlequin Canopy was a product which was added to our range in 2010. It is perfect for the school environment. The use of bright colours matched the brightness of the toys used, creating a energising and cosy atmosphere for the youngest pupils to learn in.
As we manufacture all of our walkways and canopies at our works in Rugby, the final product met the school’s expectations perfectly. Manufacturing in house gives us the maximum flexibility on product manufacture.
Although this area was of great importance to the school, they did not want the installation to disrupt the pupil’s learning experience, so they asked for the installation to be carried out in the school holidays. Due to the canopy being created to the schools exact specifications, the canopy was installed and completed in less than 3 days.
When the qualified AUTOPA installers left the site, they left the school with a bespoke canopy that is guaranteed to last for many years to come. What’s more the canopy created a unique and flexible space suitable for a variety of uses enhancing not only the site, but also the pupil’s learning environment.
